Covid Update 1/19/22

.COVID Update.

Current COVID Information

We are trying so very hard to keep our doors open for your children and we need your help to keep the spread of COVID to a minimum. Please make sure to follow all COVID protocols and to inform the school if your child becomes ill with COVID so we can inform families whose children might be exposed.

ANYONE ENTERING THE SCHOOL GROUNDS MUST WEAR A MASK. PLEASE DO NOT APPROACH THE SCHOOL WITHOUT ONE.

For Families Who Participate in the Weekly OU/OHA COVID Testing Program:

COVID Saliva Tests pick up time changes this week to Wednesdays. This means that we need your child(ren)'s COVID saliva test sample turned in by tomorrow morning for it to be processed this week. From this week on, please make sure to get the test samples in on Wednesday mornings.

Updates for Schools Regarding Contact Tracing released from OHA Last Friday:

  • Oregon will no longer consider masked contact in K-12 settings to be a close contact exposure regardless of distancing

  • This means that CCCS will not be contact tracing within classroom settings since everyone is required to mask during class time.

  • We will not be submitting classroom close contact information to Lane County Public Health.

  • We are still asking families to follow quarantine and isolation protocols in accordance with the most recent guidance if you know of close contact exposure outside of school.

  • Because students remove masks in the lunchroom to eat, contact tracing will continue for lunchtime cohorts. We are requiring students to sit in assigned seats so that we can keep track of possible close contacts and get information to families as needed. A cohort will consist of all students sitting at the same table during lunch.

  • Exposed, fully vaccinated children and adults who are up to date with their COVID-19 vaccination series do not need to quarantine after exposure and may continue to attend school.

  • Unvaccinated individuals exposed to COVID-19 at school are eligible to test to stay and may continue to attend school with a negative test result each day. If you choose to test to stay, we ask that you provide the test, write the date in pen on daily COVID tests, and send a picture to the office before school starts.

Quarantine Requirements (for close contacts of a positive case) haven't changed so far this week.

Individuals who are considered close contacts (unmasked or partially unmasked times at school, within 6 feet for longer than a cumulative 15 minutes outside of school) should quarantine for at least five days after the last close contact with a positive case, or may provide daily, dated negative COVID test results to the school prior to attendance.

  • The last day of close contact is considered "Day 0".

  • "Day 1" begins the day after the last close contact.

  • "Day 6" would be the day a student/staff member could return to school if they have no symptoms at all.

Isolation Requirements (for individuals who test positive for COVID, or are assumed positive because of symptoms) haven't changed either:

  • Anyone with a positive test for COVID-19 must isolate for 5 days

  • If they are asymptomatic or their symptoms are resolving (without fever for 24 hours), they may test on "Day 5" and return to school on "Day 6" with a negative test result.

  • If the test is positive on "Day 5", the individual must wait until symptoms are gone or resolving (without fever for 24 hours) before returning to school

OHA now has a Positive Test Website and Hotline for people who test positive for COVID-19 or are considered close contacts. It has a calculator that determines quarantine or isolation timelines. We encourage you to take advantage of this tool as needed.
